Jannu Ferides – Nyano Angalo Project in Nepal.

Nyano Angalo (Warm embrace in Nepali) is an NGO based in Nepal that was founded to seek synergy between nursing and social work with the aim of improving access to child health and supporting vulnerable families in this country. Its activity focuses on three areas.

Community health for children in rural areas (Health screening. Prevention and monitoring in schools and training of rural nurses)

-In collaboration with other local organisations, accommodation in Kathmandu for families with sick children from rural areas who come to the only paediatric hospital in the country.

Empowering the role of nurses in Nepal through their education and training, as well as that of other healthcare professionals.

At Jannu Ferides, we have started a collaborative project with Nyano Angalo that aims to improve wound care for the population served by this organisation. To this end, we are planning the following activities:

-Face-to-face training in wound care and skin integrity for rural nurses


-Face-to-face training in wound care and skin integrity in paediatric patients for nurses and other healthcare professionals at the paediatric hospital in Kathmandu


-Basic provision of advanced wound care materials for rural nurses


-Basic provision of materials for advanced wound care by the paediatric hospital in Kathmandu


-Implementation of a teleconsultation system for complex wound care


-Ongoing online training on topics related to wound care and skin integrity for professionals trained in face-to-face activities


Nyano Angalo will also collaborate with Jannu Ferides on the logistics of follow up of patients with wounds in the remote region of Taplejung.
